At the center of the mesmerizing rolling meadows, lived a young shepherd. His life was mostly pure, simple, and honest. His only responsibility was essentially to tend to his herd of rams.
Their low murmuring and the murmuring of the breezes among the lone tree on the hilltop were his only co-dwellers. Day after day, watching over his charges instilled in him a notion of calm satisfaction.

One afternoon he ran into the village yelling “Wolf! A wolf is attacking my sheep!” The frightened villagers sprinted up the hills to help but found no wolf.
The boy chuckled at the check here puzzle on their faces. This trick continued for a few more days. But, one noon, a real wolf did attack the herd. The shepherd boy raced for help, screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one came.
Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his sheep. Devastated, he returned to the town only to be met with a lesson on honesty and the consequences of dishonesty.
The story of this shepherd boy has been transmitted generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the significance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the perils of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once broken, is tough to regain. It's a story as appropriate today as it was anciently.
